A magnificent ornamental building with historical significance

The ornamental building on Sebastianstraße at the corner of Luckauer Straße, which was constructed between 1848 and 1853, is one of the oldest buildings in Berlin and thus survived not only two wars but also German division and reunification. With the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, Sebastianstraße was divided: The houses with the house numbers 1 to 3 belonged thereafter to East Berlin, while the houses 81 to 87 on the opposite side were assigned to West Berlin.
