The Building
This classic engine and boiler house, built between 1870 and 1899, was carefully renovated and supplemented with a modern residential section, inside which the upper floor of the maisonette apartment is located. Glass, steel and concrete prove to be a successful change of style and correspond excellently with the traditional, well-preserved brick façade. The surrounding buildings also fit perfectly into the varied, industrial-looking overall picture. The proximity to the river, however, is a highlight that cannot be overlooked. Not only can it be reached within a minute's walk but also forms part of the apartment’s stunning view.
The Apartment
The building’s industrial aesthetics are skilfully continued inside the apartment. Cool colour worlds meet steel pillars, large glass fronts, micro-cement flooring and original, expertly restored floorboards from the attic of the former industrial building. There is certainly no lack of cosiness and comfort. A smart-home system controls the heating and lighting, and an air-conditioning system ensures pleasant temperatures even in the height of summer. A large, bright master bathroom equipped with a floor-level shower, bathtub, bidet and free-standing washbasin also allows for soothing wellness moments and is complemented by an additional bathroom and a guest WC. Culinary cravings, meanwhile, are catered for in the spacious kitchen with its practical storage room. Both the kitchen counter and the free-standing kitchen island are not only included, but also individually designed unique pieces. The atrium, which bathes the large living room on the upper floor in brightness, is similarly impressive, while the two wonderful roof terraces - one of which is sheltered from view, the other facing west - skilfully round off the more than successful overall concept.
The Location
The river on your doorstep, a palace next door, a lake just down the road - and that's not all, because the surroundings of Wintersteinstrasse 22 are as unique as they are varied. Let yourself drift between the green treetops of the palace gardens. Enjoy a cool beer on the banks of Lietzensee lake. Stroll through the lovingly decorated antique shops of Suarezstrasse. Taste your way through the varied menus of the numerous restaurants, cafés and bistros. Or discover old and new masters in one of the surrounding museums. Whatever your choices and desires, one thing is certain: thanks to the balanced mix of culture, culinary delights and amusement, boredom is a foreign word here.
